Inside Out 2” has just released its first trailer, and Pixar fans are in for a treat. The sequel to the 2015 hit “Inside Out” brings back the five emotions that live in Riley’s brain: Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust. But this time, they have a new companion: Anxiety, a nervous and jittery emotion that adds more chaos to Riley’s life.
The sequel features some changes in the voice cast, as Tony Hale and Liza Lapira take over the roles of Fear and Disgust from Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling, who reportedly had salary issues.
The first film followed Riley, an 11-year-old girl who moved from Minnesota to San Francisco and struggled to cope with the changes in her life. Her emotions, led by Joy, went on a journey through her mind to restore her happiness and stability.
The film was a critical and commercial success, winning the Oscar for best animated feature in 2016. It was praised for its original and insightful portrayal of human emotions and psychology.
“Inside Out is a stunning achievement that transcends the screen and touches the hearts of audiences,” Variety’s Peter Debruge wrote. He described the film as “a brilliant and beautiful way to understand and empathize with our own feelings and those of others.”
The sequel was announced in 2022 at Disney’s D23 Expo. It is directed by Kelsey Mann and written by Meg LeFauve, who also co-wrote the first film.
“Inside Out 2” will hit the theaters on June 14, 2024, almost a decade after the first film.
