Happy “Stranger Things” Day! The popular online game, “Dead by Daylight,” is reintroducing the beloved “Stranger Things” DLC, featuring updated versions of characters Nancy and Steve.
The Big Reunion: It’s a momentous occasion for fans of both “Stranger Things” and “Dead by Daylight” as the Stranger Things DLC returns with fresh versions of the Demogorgon, Nancy Wheeler, and Steve Harrington as playable characters.
Why It Disappeared: The DLC had vanished from the game due to the expiration of the licensing agreement between Behavior Interactive and Netflix. But now, it’s back and available for purchase in the in-game store.
The Characters Are Back: This revival brings back the Demogorgon as the Killer and Nancy Wheeler (played by Natalia Dyer) and Steve Harrington (played by Joe Keery) as survivors. Not only that, but fans will also find two cosmetic items — Nancy’s torn sweatshirt and Steve’s scuffed rolled sleeves.
A Special Day: The good news coincides with Netflix’s “Stranger Things Day” on November 6. This date is significant in the show’s storyline as it marks the day Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) went missing in the fictional town of Hawkins, thanks to the Demogorgon. It’s a pivotal moment that sets the stage for Will’s friends and family to embark on a mission to find Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and bring their lost friend back.
The Mystery Behind Its Departure: The departure of the “Stranger Things” DLC marked a significant event in the world of “Dead by Daylight.” It was the first time any chapter was removed from the game in any form. The removal happened due to the licensing agreement between Behavior Interactive, the developer of “Dead by Daylight,” and Netflix, the owner of the “Stranger Things” franchise, expiring. An interesting tidbit is that this 13th chapter DLC introduced a unique twist, featuring two survivors instead of the usual one.
Waiting for Stranger Things Season 5: Fans are eagerly awaiting the next season of “Stranger Things.” Unfortunately, there’s no new update on the release date for Season 5, and the delay is due to ongoing labor disputes. Filming for the new season can’t commence until the AMPTP offers SAG-AFTRA a fair deal.
The good news is that the Duffer Brothers, the show’s creators, have shared some details about what to expect in Season 5. The final installment will consist of eight episodes, with the final episode promising an “epic showdown” lasting a whopping 2.5 hours. In an interview with Collider’s Editor-in-Chief, Steve Weintraub, the Duffer Brothers emphasized that they are not rushing the delivery of the season to ensure top-notch content quality. They also expressed their belief that their visual effects team is on par with the standards of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with a faster turnaround rate.
The Wait Continues: Considering the ongoing labor dispute, it’s unlikely that we’ll be returning to the eerie Upside Down anytime in 2024. An early 2025 release date is probably the most optimistic scenario. For fans of the franchise, waiting between installments is nothing new. Season 4 was released 35 months after Season 3 ended, so patience is key.
